The Scarsdale Diet plan is one of the most popular diets ever created. The diet achieves your weight loss goals and the creator, Dr Herman Tarnower insists the Scarsdale Diet plan will allow you to lose 20 pounds in two weeks. The Doctor claims that the Scarsdale Diet has miraculous results and allows you to keep the weight off permanently.The Scarsdale Diet plan is a two week low fat/low carbohydrate and high protein diet and has become one of the most popular weight loss programs in the world and is more healthy in our opinion than the Atkins Diet, in that the Scarsdale Diet menu includes some complex carbohydrates such as bread and fruits. The diet contains five 14-day menu plans and a lifetime keep slim program.

The central basis of the diet consists of eliminating most carbohydrates and limiting your consumption of others. The carbohydrates that are allowed on the Scarsdale menu are in limited quantities and are carbohydrates consisting mainly of natural whole grains. The diet requires limited fats bit not to dangerously low levels.

The Scarsdale Medical Diet follows a schedule of following the diet for two weeks followed by a period of not following the diet plan. This cyclical nature of the Scarsdale Diet is said to optimize your results and to prevent your body from adapting to the diet regimen.

The Scarsdale Diet is a weight loss plan for adults who have no special dietary needs or problems and clearly outlines the type of foods to be eaten each day. Snacking while on the diet is not allowed and herbal appetite suppressants such as Hoodia are encouraged. Meals consist of fruit, vegetables, and lean sources of protein in unlimited amounts. You should not drink any alcoholic beverages on the diet and between meals you can eat only things such as carrots and celery but you may have as much as you wish. The only beverages allowed on the Scarsdale Diet plan are water, coffee, tea, club soda, and diet sodas. Tuna fish or salmon salad (oil drained off)with lemon and vinegar dressing
Grapefruit, or melon, or fruit in season

Sliced roast lamb, all visible fat removed
Salad of lettuce,tomatoes,cucumbers,celery

Thursday
Two eggs, any style (no fat used in cooking)
Low-fat cottage cheese
Zucchini, or string beans, or sliced/stewed tomatoes
One slice of protein bread, toasted

Roast, broiled or barbequed chicken (skin and visible fat removed before eating)
Plenty of spinach, green peppers, string beans

Friday
Assorted cheese slices (preferably lowfat)
Spinach, all you want
One slice of protein bread, toasted

Fish or shellfish
Combination salad (any fresh vegetables desired, raw or cooked)

Saturday
Fruit salad, any combination of fruits

Roast turkey or chicken
Salad of tomatoes and lettuce

Sunday
Cold or hot turkey or chicken
Tomatoes, carrots, cooked cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower
Grapefruit, or fruit in season

Plenty of broiled (grilled) steak, all visible fat removed before eating; any cut of steak you wish- sirloin, porterhouse, London broil, etc.
Salad of lettuce, cucumbers, celery, tomatoes (sliced or cooked)
Brussels Sprouts

NOTES:
Vegetables not permitted are corn, peas, potatoes, lentils and any beans, except green beans or waxed beans.
Where no portion is indicated, you can eat as much as you like.
Eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed.
Between meals you can snack on carrots, celery
Cooking with herbs, seasonings, spices, grated onion, minced parsley is recommended.
Salt, Non-stick vegetable spray, cocktail sauce, ketchup, chili sauce & mustard are all permitted, but should be used within moderation.

Scarsdale Medical Diet – Substitute Lunch
If you wish, you may substitute the following lunch for any lunch, any day, on the Scarsdale Medical Diet.

One half cup low-fat pot cheese or cottage cheese, mixed with one tablespoon of low-fat sour cream
Sliced fruit, all you want
6 halves of walnuts or pecans, whole or chopped, and mixed with above or sprinkled over the fruit
Coffee/tea/no-sugar diet soda of any flavor
